DDE Diploma in Dance Education - ISTD Advanced Teaching Qualifications

The Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is available to study.

This qualification gives prospective dance teachers a solid grounding in the skills and knowledge required to teach dance in a safe environment. It consists of 5 mandatory units. Three units are generic and cover teaching skills with a focus on teaching observation and safe dance practice. The other two units are dance genre-specific and concentrates on technical, performance-based and musical knowledge required at this level both through personal performance and that of pupils of various levels.

During the course learners study about observation techniques and how these may lead to a greater understanding of teaching methods and skills: this serves as a basis for the development of practical teaching skills at Level 4 (Diploma in Dance Education).

The faculty and Patrons at Morea Performing Arts (examiners and creators of the syllabi) are also able to provide private coaching in all the higher teaching qualifications of the ISTD; the Diploma in Dance Education (DDE), the Licentiate and Fellowship in the Imperial Ballet, Modern, Tap and National Dance Faculties.
